Mystery of the West Wing hole: Is Obama building a super-bunker under the White House?
Posted by admin / Under Lawn Game
It is a huge hole in one of the world's most famous gardens - but nobody knows what it is for. Workmen have torn up an enormous section of the lawn in front of the White House for a mysterious, top secret project. Official explanations have ranged from an update of the air conditioning system to something 'security' related. But that has not stopped speculation that the President is installing something else entirely - from a swimming pool to a spa.

Mysterious project continues

White House reporters have tried all their sneakiest reporter tricks to find out what is really going on behind the green construction wall on the North Lawn. The 44 blog recently witnessed one journalist trying to extract details from a utility worker, to no avail. Trucks come and go from the White House construction site, their company logos covered for security. There is jackhammering, and digging. The cement truck tires get washed off before they leave the site -- no one wants a messy White House driveway.

I've just been informed that my second Toro gas powered push lawn mower isn't worth fixing. I know very little about engines and such, so I'm taking the mechanic's word for it. The engine has thrown a rod (I can hear it) and the transmission's shot (that's why I took it to be repaired). Now I have to plead a little a lot guilty. I did not take proper care of the thing. I should have changed the oil, etc., etc. However, before I invest in another lawn mower (which I PROMISE I will take good care of) I thought...

Joe Florence, 57, 620 Chatham Drive, was stunned with a Taser on Tuesday night and left with a bloody face, broken nose and possibly a broken jaw, he said Thursday. He disputes the police reports of the struggle, which said Florence became very agitated, was told he was being placed under arrest and then fought an officer. Police said Officers Nicholas Ivancevich and Heather Freeman received minor injuries in the scuffle, a portion of which was...

University Park man slain after dog urinates on lawn

A former Marine who neighbors say obsessed over his University Park lawn is being held on $3 million bail, accused of gunning down a neighbor whose puppy urinated on the man's well-manicured grass. Charles J. Clements, 69, had won the south suburb's beautification and lawn upkeep award but also was known for threatening people who dared to set foot in his yard, neighbors said. Joshua Funches, a 23-year-old father of two, was walking his fox terrier Gucci in the 500 block of Landau Road on Sunday night when the dog lifted its leg and went on Clements' lawn, said Funches'...
